Japanese Knotweed (Links/Polygonum Cuspidatum, Index/Polygonum Cuspidatum Root) [Links/Japanese Knotweed, Images; Video, Papers, Patents, Books; Links/Japanese Knotweed resveratrol supplements, Images; Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension; Benefits of Resveratrol; Amazon, Index/Resveratrol, Links/Resveratrol, Images, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension]. Japanese knotweed is a source of resveratrol, which is life-extending primarily via its property of activating the gene SIRT1 [Links, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension, Amazon, Index/SIRT1]. Resveratrol also inhibits amyloid beta plaques [Images] associated with Alzheimer's Disease [Images/Alzheimer's Disease Brains] and is an antioxidant. The Tao on Mars: 'J-ow-goul-an' of Sirtis Major Planum. Orion pursues Algol (Lilith) in the smile of Perseus-Pleiades-Aries, which becomes the bottom associated with Cassiopea's breasts as the constellation crosses the Meridian.

Jiaogulan [Links, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension]. This is one that appears in Immortality Diet formulations stemming from Chinese medicine, such as the one suggested to me by Tristan Trefoil [Links, Images], which is partly based on the modern molecular biology of life extension medicine, and partly based on prior results of The Taoist Immortals [Images, Video, Books]. According to WebMD's vitamin & supplements search, jiaogulan can cause birth defects when given to pregnant women, and may be associated with side-effects including abdominal pain, although it has many valuable properties, such as elevating SOD. It should be used with appropriate caution. See also Fo-Ti (He Shou Wu) from Polygonum multiflorum roots and Li Ching-Yuen. Read:

Joint Injuries (Treating Injured Joints) [Links/Treating Injured Joints, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension; Links/Supplements for sore or injured joints, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension]. Treating bodybuilding injuries [Links, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension] is a important problem in longevity because of the rejuvenation value of exercise, which may lead to joint injuries, torn muscles, and other injuries associated with sports medicine [Links, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books].
"Glucosamine, which stimulates the synthesis of glucosaminoglycans and collagen, and glucosaminoglycans such as chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid are useful for decreasing inflammation and damage with musculoskeletal injuries." - Ref. See

______[Links/Glucosamine, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension].
___Chondroitin sulfate
______[Links/Chondroitin sulfate, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension].
___Hyaluronic acid
______[Links/Hyaluronic acid, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension].
Note that hyaluronic acid inhibits the cartilage-dissolving matrix metalloprotienase MMP-13 to protect joints in therapy for arthritis, and is best given with pain-relieving krill oil (300 mg/day), fish oil (2400 mg/day), and astaxanthin, which also inhibits MMP-13.
"Collagen capsules contain the building blocks to bring about positive improvement in many ailments that are the result of aging, such as facial wrinkles, aging skin, cellulite, or the result of injury such as torn cartilage. All of these can be improved by the use of collagen capsules". - Encapsulated Rejuvenation.
Guggulsterones taken at 20-60 mg/dose 2 or 3 times per day also improve joint recovery and cholesterol levels.

SAMe for Chondrocyte Protection in Cartilage
SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine) is used for chondrocyte protection in cartilage, heart protection, liver protection and brain protection, [25s]. When it targets synovial cells, the inflammatory cytokine IL-1 releases prostaglandin E2, proteases, collagenases, and glycosidases and decreases SAMe levels. Taking SAMe reverses this situation. The methyl donor SAMe upregulates proteoglycan synthesis in chondrocytes. SAMe protects against DNA demethylation. DNA is partially methylated in the development process to deactivate genes used in early developmental stages. Also, SAMe supports neurotransmitter production. SAMe itself declines in abundance with advancing age [Images, Papers, Books]. "Folate (folic acid, vitamin B9) plays an essential role in one-carbon transfer involving remethylation of homocysteine to methionine, thereby insuring the provision of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), the primary methyl group donor for most biological methylation reactions." - (Young-In Kim, 2005). All known DNA methyltranferases use SAMe as the methyl donor.
Jujube Seed Extract [Links, Images, Video, Papers, Patents, Books, LifeExtension; toxicity]. The jujube plant is called Ziziphus jujube Mill. Jujube seed extract contains "an impressive array of antioxidant compounds, including flavonoids, phenolics", and vitamin C useful in restoring skin around the eyes. See Robert Goldfaden and Gary Goldfaden, MD (2013), Protect and Rejuvenate Delicate Skin Around the Eyes, Life Extension Magazine, August 2013.
Juvetea [Site, Links] a telomerase activator. "Juvetea matches the best Green Oolong tea [Index, Images] with ginseng [Index] and other herbs which contain a compound that activates the so called immortalizing enzyme telomerase in human cells." I note that ginseng contains both telomerase-activating (ginsenoside RH1 and possibly ginsenoside Rg1) and telomerase-inhibiting ginsenosides. The net impact of ginseng is usually to place it in the telomerase inhibitor class of anticancer nutraceuticals when applied to cancer cells:
____Ginsenoside Rh2 [Links, Images, Papers, Patents, Books; toxicity]
______is a telomerase inhibitor. [article].
____Ginseng is used as a telomerase inhibitor applied to cancer cells.
______See Ginseng [Links/as a telomerase inhibitor, Images, Papers, Patents, Books].
____Panax Ginseng is used as a telomerase inhibitor when applied to cancer cells,
______but when applied to normal human fibroblasts, it behaves like a telomerase activator.
______See Panax Ginseng [Links/as a telomerase inhibitor, Images, Papers, Patents, Books].
____Korean Red Ginseng (List (31)) is a telomerase inhibitor applied to leukemia cells.
See Korean Red Ginseng [Links/as a telomerase inhibitor, Images, Papers, Patents, Books]. See Park SE, Park C, Kim SH, Hossain MA, Kim MY, Chung HY, Son WS, Kim GY, Choi YH, Kim ND (2009), Korean red ginseng extract induces apoptosis and decreases telomerase activity in human leukemia cells., Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2009 Jan 21;121(2):304-12. Note that Product B literature identifies Camillia sinensis (the basis of white, black, and green tea) as a telomerase inducer when applied to healthy human fibroblasts.
